Model 1881 Foot Artillery Gunner's Quadrant

Libellenquadrant 81

This type quadrant was in service throughout the service life of the 10cm K. series, in other words, from 1904 through 1945. It may also have been used for other weapons. The general style of quadrant is much like those found in many nation's service. The correct barrel elevation is set on the quadrant then it is placed on the breechring of the piece. There is a rectangular box etched on the breechring of the howitzer or gun to indicate the correct location of the instrument. The crewman then elevates the tube until the vile bubble is level on the quadrant.
